BIOGRAPHY
Charlie-Jade Jones is a highly versatile singer-actor, singing teacher and researcher currently undertaking a PhD in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music. Her research, supervised by Professor Aaron Williamon and Dr. Anna Detari, fits within the areas of performing arts medicine, performance psychology and health promotion. As an RCM Scholar, she is supported by the Royal College of Music.
After graduating from the Royal Academy of Music, Charlie-Jade made her professional stage debut with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra at Cadogan Hall in Anything Goes: A 50th Anniversary Celebration of Cole Porter. Further highlights since include Marc Blitzstein’s No For An Answer at the Arcola Theatre as part of the Grimeborn Opera Festival; the 80th Anniversary of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Oklahoma at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane; the 10th Anniversary of Howard Goodall’s Love Story at Cadogan Hall; the Symphonic Premier of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s State Fair at Cadogan Hall and the Immersive Revival of Jason Robert Brown’s Parade at Frogmore Papermill. Additional work includes session vocals for film and studio albums at Abbey Road and Angel Studios, and concert work as a soprano as part of the Thursford Christmas Spectacular and Fingask Follies.
Her solo show The Soprano Behind The Screen, about the life of Marni Nixon, was featured by Elaine Paige on her BBC Radio 2 show, EP On Sunday, and ran at the Chiswick Playhouse before a UK Tour. Her debut album, Remember, celebrates the work of composers of the Great American Songbook. Most recently, Charlie-Jade debuted her solo concert, Finding Home, at the 1901 Arts Club in London. The concert is due for a UK tour, following the recording of an EP due for release in 2025.
TEACHING & RESEARCH
Charlie-Jade currently teaches singing at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance and is the Associate Teacher of Singing at LAMDA. She teaches pre-professional students on BA and MA Musical Theatre Courses, BA and MFA Acting Courses and previously taught on Mountview’s BA Actor Musicianship Course, alongside running her private studio for professional voice users, The Practice. Using a collaborative and evidence-based approach to voice training, alongside her depth of knowledge in physiological and psychological systems, Charlie-Jade works with each individual to encourage vocal development and harness a clients unique sound, whilst ensuring that no matter the genre, students are singing healthily and efficiently.
Charlie-Jade is a PhD Candidate in Performance Science at the Royal College of Music where her research sits within the areas performing arts medicine, performance psychology and health literacy. She graduated with an MSc in Performance Science with Distinction from the Royal College of Music, and also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Musical Theatre Performance from the Royal Academy of Music and a Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music in singing teaching. She regularly engages in CPD with leading pedagogues, and works collaboratively with specialist physiotherapists, osteopaths and when required, additional members of a voice clinic team. She observes in NHS Voice Clinics with a leading ENT Consultant and is a member of the British Voice Association and Healthy Conservatoires Network.
With a keen research interest around music and health, Charlie-Jade has facilitated workshops for outreach organisations and professional performing artists, both as a singer and researcher. She has sung with Opera Holland Park in their collaborative projects with Age UK, assisted Key Club at the Lyric Hammersmith for young people aged 16-30 on the autistic spectrum, and collaborated with the Wigmore Hall during her MSc research in singing and dementia.
